Key Facts & Visa Types

If you hold a regular Bangladesh passport: yes, you need visa to enter Malaysia for tourism (social visit). KLN+2KLN+2
The visa allows you for social visit / tourism. For other purposes (study, work, training) different visa types or pass/permit required. KLN+1
There are two main visa reference types:
1. Visa Without Reference (VTR) – for social visits / tourism. KLN+2KLN+2
2. Visa With Reference (VDR) – required for purposes needing prior approval by Malaysian Immigration, e.g. for training, study, long‑stay visits etc. KLN+2KLN+2
Visas (single or multiple entry) are issued. Single Entry Visa (SEV) is common for tourism. Multiple Entry Visa (MEV) may be allowed in certain cases (frequent travelers, business etc.) but it’s discretionary. KLN+1

Here are what you’ll generally need to prepare when applying from Dhaka:

Hotel reservation or proof of accommodation	Confirmed hotel booking or sponsor’s invitation. KLN+1
Bank statements	Usually last 3 or 6 months, with solvency/letter proving financial capacity. KLN+1
Letter / Purpose of Visit	A statement from you explaining why you are travelling. If invited by someone in Malaysia (friend, sponsor, business), an invitation/reference letter helps. KLN+1
For VDR cases, additional approvals	(e.g. from Immigration Department of Malaysia) prior to visa issuance. KLN+1

Use eVISA system via malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my if your category is eligible. KLN+1
Otherwise, through Authorised Visa Application Agencies in Dhaka. You don’t always submit to the High Commission directly. KLN+2KLN+2
Fill out required application, upload or submit documentation, pay the fee, wait for processing. KLN+1

Visa fee for Bangladesh passport holders (social visit / VTR) is around BDT 3,100 as of latest guidelines. KLN
Visa fee can differ if applying for Visa With Reference (VDR), multiple entry etc. KLN+1
Validity: Single Entry Visa usually valid for 3 months from date of issue. You must enter within that period. KLN+1
Stay duration upon arrival: usually a social visit pass allowing stay up to 30 days. KLN+1

The e‑visa facility for tourists from Bangladesh was suspended temporarily — a notice said that tourist e‑visa facility is suspended for all Bangladeshi citizens until August 30, 2024. The Bangladesh Monitor

Apply well in advance, since processing and possible delays (especially with extra document requests) can happen.
Make sure all documents are clear, complete, and in the correct format (passport photos, scans, proof of funds etc.).
Be honest and consistent in your purpose of visit; immigration may ask questions on arrival.
Have proof of accommodation and travel itinerary ready (hotel bookings, flight tickets) to avoid issues.
Keep proof of return ticket and financial means to show you can leave Malaysia after visit.
